State Avenue in Marysville reopened after train accident

 MARYSVILLE – State Avenue was reopened at 2 a.m. today and train traffic was back on schedule through Marysville.

The road was shut down just before 6 a.m. Monday after a freight train collided with a semi-truck loaded with frozen pizzas and cheesecakes. Three engines and one boxcar were derailed and the semi-truck was demolished.

No one was seriously hurt in the collision.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. The engineer applied the emergency brakes and sounded the horn but was unable to stop for the semi-truck that was straddling the railroad tracks.
