M. Terrace runs away from Everett, 51-38

EVERETT – Leigh Swanson and Michael Boxley combined for 26 points as the Mountlake Terrace Hawks topped the Everett Seagulls 51-38 Tuesday in a Western Conference South boys basketball meeting.

Swanson scored the bulk of his 14 points during a late run near the end of the second quarter to give Mountlake Terrace a 26-18 lead at the half. Boxley, who finished with 12 points, helped the Hawks build a 16-point lead midway through the third quarter.

“They made a run late in the second quarter and early in the third quarter,” Everett assistant coach John Lowe said. “They got an eight-point lead up to 16 points quickly. But overall, it was a fairly balanced Mountlake Terrace team.”

Mountlake Terrace collected its sixth Wesco South victory and improved to 9-2 overall. Everett dropped to 2-4 in the division and 3-5 overall.

Michael Hudson, the only double-digit scorer for Everett, led the Seagulls with 14 points.
