Mariner takes control of E-W in 2nd period

EDMONDS – The Mariner boys basketball team took advantage of the Edmonds-Woodway Warriors’ second-quarter shooting woes to capture a 49-43 Wesco South victory Tuesday night at Edmonds-Woodway High School.

The Marauders held Edmonds-Woodway to four points in the second quarter and took a seven-point lead at halftime. Mariner would never relinquish the lead after the half.

“They were hot and we were cold,” Warriors coach Gail Pintler said.

“They played very tough (defense). They jumped out in front and played hard the rest of the way and never gave up the lead.”

Mariner spread the scoring around with Danny Chhan leading the way with 10 points. Joey Dillon and Jerrel Grant both had eight and Tevin Dillon finished with seven.

Casey Hamlett scored 13 and Eric Greenwood had 11 to lead the Edmonds-Woodway.
