Jackson rallies late to survive against Hawks

MILL CREEK – A new year, the same old result for the Jackson boys basketball team.

The Timberwolves used a 24-point fourth quarter to rally and defeat Mountlake Terrace 66-61 in a Western Conference South Division game at Jackson High School.

Jackson’s experience came through once again as the Timberwolves erased an eight point deficit with five minutes to play.

“We’re an experienced team. There was no panic when we fell behind,” Jackson head coach Steve Johnson said.

Brian Rucker and Jamie Eisinger scored 17 points apiece, and teammate Dan Wishko added 14 to lead the T-Wolves (5-0 in league, 7-2 overall).

Wishko, who finished 7-for-11 from the field, put back a shot with three minutes to play, giving the Timberwolves a one-point lead they never lost.

“It was a hard-fought game,” Johnson said. “We had to scratch and claw at the end to get it done.”

Mountlake Terrace (2-2, 3-5) was led by John Allen’s 19 points.
