Cascade crashes District 3 party

TACOMA – The only non-District 3 team at the District 3 girls bowling meet won the event.

That school was Cascade.

Since there were not enough 4A teams in District 1, Cascade went to Bowlero Lanes in Tacoma, and advanced to the state tournament Feb. 2-3 at Lynnwood Lanes.

“I’m really proud of my girls,” Cascade bowling coach Ron Hicks said. “Very pleased with the job they did.”

The Bruins, in third place going into the final game, got an incredible performance from tournament MVP Breanne Mattson. The sophomore bowled a 224 final game, and finished with a 645 series to help Cascade clinch the victory.

Fellow sophomore Sara Elliott (195 game, 569 series) along with seniors Anastasia Adams (237, 546) and Peggy Wadena (178, 507) were named to the all-tournament team.

Freshmen Sunpreet Bhangoo, Samantha Tull, and Kayla Hamilton comprise the rest of the Cascade team that will travel to state.

The Bruins (3,436) edged out defending state champion Wilson (3,361) and South Kitsap (3,305) for the win. Those three teams will be joined by Stadium (3,270) and Graham-Kapowsin (3,033) at the state tournament.
