Police dog handler Suzanne Eviston is continuing her recovery at an Everett rehabilitation facility, Everett police Lt. Ted Olafson said. Eviston and her canine partner Axle were responding to a burglary July 15 when they were struck by a Jeep driven by a 19-year-old man. Police suspect the man was trying to flee the burglary scene. He's been jailed after being charged with vehicular assault. Eviston suffered multiple broken bones. Axle received a broken leg and is continuing his recovery at the home of another member of the Everett Police Department. A recovery fund for Eviston and Axle has been opened through the Everett Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Foundation with Bank of America. Donations can be made at any Bank of America branch. Langley: Man dies in fall from bluff An 85-year-old man apparently fell off a bluff behind his home to his death Thursday, police said. Neighbors saw the man lying at the bottom of the bluff behind his house in the 3600 block of Holmes View Drive, according to Ed Wallace, a detective with the Island County Sheriff's Office. The man's wife came home from a walk about 5 p.m. and found that her husband's car, wallet and keys were there but that he was gone, Wallace said. She called 911 and neighbors began looking for the man, Wallace said. "He may have been doing some yardwork on top of the bluff and fell off," he said. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, Wallace said. Lake Goodwin: Two men injured in accident Two men were seriously injured Thursday when their car went off Lake Goodwin Road and flipped, according to police. The men, one 23 and the other in his 20s, were taken by helicopter to Harborview Medical Center after the 4:40 p.m. accident, according to Rebecca Hover, spokeswoman for the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office. No other vehicles were involved in the accident, in the 15000 block of Lake Goodwin Road, officials said. The two men had to be extricated from the small two-door car, according to a battalion chief with the Marysville Fire District. Detectives were investigating alcohol and speed as possible factors in the crash, Hover said. Mill Creek: Pedestrian injured in traffic A 67-year-old woman was injured when she was hit by a car after running out into traffic on 164th Street SW on Thursday, police said. The accident occurred shortly before 6 p.m. just east of the intersection with Larch Way, said Rebecca Hover, a spokeswoman for the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office. The woman was taken by ambulance to Harborview Medical Center, Hover said. The extent of her injuries was not known Thursday. It appeared the woman ran into traffic from south to north and was hit by a sedan in the westbound lanes, Hover said. At least part of 164th was closed until nearly 8 p.m. The driver was not cited and no charges are expected, Hover said. Neither speed nor alcohol is believed to be a factor in the accident.
