FYI

Apply for jobs at Evergreen Fair

Vendors are hiring food handlers, cashiers, cooks and general helpers for the Evergreen State Fair that runs Aug. 23 to Sept. 3.

Visit the WorkSource Snohomish County trailer at the front gate of the fairgrounds at 14405 179th Ave. SE, Monroe.

Apply in person from noon to 5 p.m. today or 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday through Aug. 23.

Sultan Food Bank needs volunteers

The Sultan Food Bank is in dire need of volunteers.

No experience is needed and hours are short and flexible. Light duties are varied but they especially need drivers.

Drivers can bring a helper and use the food bank's truck or their own vehicle with gas reimbursement.

Leave a message at 360-799-0861.

The Sultan Food Bank is located at 710 First St., Sultan.

Motorcyclists to support troops

Edmonds business owner Dan Rogers, in partnership with Support America's Armed Forces, is holding a fundraiser for Fort Lewis Fisher House, which provides a home away from home for military family members to be close to loved ones during hospitalization.

The event will bring motorcyclists together from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at:

  • Lynnwood Cycle Barn, 17222 Highway 99;

  • Smokey Point Cycle Barn, 3131 Smokey Point Drive;

  • Harley-Davidson of Seattle, 5711 188th St. SW, Lynnwood;

  • Sound Harley-Davidson, 16212 Smokey Point Blvd., Marysville.

    To salute the troops, participants will start their motorcycles simultaneously at 1 p.m. and continue to rev the engines for 60 seconds, creating A Moment Of Thunder.

    Registration is $15. Some locations will offer rides, a raffle and food.

    Correction

    Newly appointed Mill Creek city manager Tim Burns served as the city's public works director for the previous 13 months. A story on Page B1 on Wednesday misstated the amount of time Burns has worked for the city.
