Lake Stevens rolls to fourth straight win

STANWOOD -- The train just keeps rolling for the Lake Stevens wrestling team -- with or without the starters.

The defending state champions decided to move a few wrestlers around, even giving backups a shot at varsity in Thursday night's Wesco North meet against Stanwood. The changes, though, certainly didn't effect the Vikings' early-season dominance as they rolled to a fourth-straight dual victory, 66-3.

Backups won at both 103 and 140 pounds and Blake Lehuquet picked up an especially-impressive fall at 215 after bumping up a weight.

"I was really happy with him. He came up from 189, gave up some weight and still did a great job," Lake Stevens head coach Brent Barnes said. "We had several wrestlers tonight turn in really good efforts."

The Vikings won all but one match, but Stanwood didn't make it easy on them. The Spartans forced decisions in four matches and picked up their lone win at 171 with an 8-7 victory by Denver Colin.

Lake Stevens did get five falls, including three straight from Josh Grow (189), Lehuquet (215) and Zach Teuber (275).
