Myers sets the tone for Arlington victory

ARLINGTON -- Team captain Chris Myers set the tone early for the Arlington wrestling team Tuesday night.

The Eagles defeated Oak Harbor 42-26 in a Wesco North battle in Arlington.

After an opening-match loss by decision, Myers (160 pounds) took all of 15 seconds to pin his opponent and energize his Eagles teammates.

"He sets the the tone," Arlington coach Doug Byers said. "We depend on him to get that pin."

After battling for 11 matches, Arlington held a one-point lead 27-26 before the Eagles swept the final three matches with a pin, technical fall and a major decision to close out the meet.

Nathan Shortt (140) won by pin, Matt Hale won by technical fall 16-0 and Dom Mangini won by major decision with a score of 11-3 for the Eagles.

"It was a typical Wesco North meet," Byers said. "We just beat up on each other. It is a pretty touch conference."
