Kusilek's pin helps push Kamiak to first-place tie

MUKILTEO -- With a chance to tie Mariner atop the Wesco South wrestling standings, the Kamiak Knights knew they couldn't let the Shorewood Thunderbirds get on a hot streak.

Thursday's contest started to slip away from Kamiak midway through the meet, then Colton Kusilek pinned Kyle Floresca in two minutes and 52 seconds, pulling momentum back in the Knights' favor in an eventual 54-26 win over Shorewood.

"They had two big wins and were starting to (build momentum) and Colton threw some water on their fire," Kamiak Coach Dan Hanika said.

The Knights lost only one more match following Kusilek's pin.

Anthony Jacobson continued his hot streak for the Knights, pinning Alfredo Lopez in 34 seconds and continuing a nine-match win streak.
