Veterans help Murphy remain unbeaten in conference duals

EVERETT -- Veteran team leaders came through for the Archbishop Murphy wrestling team on Thursday.

Junior grappler Jack Hardy and senior teammate Zeke Evers won critical bouts to help the Wildcats remain unbeaten in Cascade Conference dual meets with a 44-30 victory over Cedarcrest.

The Wildcats led Cedarcrest by one point when Hardy faced off against the Red Wolves' Michael Stockman in the 140-pound bout.

Hardy, a third-year wrestler who Smith said often wrestles up or down a weight class to help the team out, edged Stockman 15-14.

"That was a wild one," Smith said. "It was cover your eyes one second, jump up and down the next. For both sidelines. ... (Hardy won) by sheer force of will"
