Silvertips' Gendur named a second-team WHL all-star

EVERETT -- The Western Hockey League named the Everett Silvertips right wing Dan Gendur a second-team Western Conference all-star on Thursday.

Gendur, 20, from Victoria, B.C., was Everett's leading scorer during the regular season with 84 points (29 goals, 55 assists) in 60 games. During the season he also garnered both Player of the Week and Player of the Month honors, the latter for January.

Gendur was the only Silvertip mentioned when the league announced the Western Conference all-stars and awards nominees Thursday. The Western Conference first team consisted of forwards Colton Yellow Horn (Tri-City), Colin Long (Kelowna) and Oscar Moller (Chilliwack), defensemen T.J. Fast (Tri-City) and Thomas Hickey (Seattle), and goaltender Chet Pickard (Tri-City).

The rest of the second team included forwards Mark Santorelli (Chilliwack) and Drayson Bowman (Spokane), defensemen Jonathon Blum (Vancouver) and Luke Schenn (Kelowna), and goaltender Tyson Sexsmith (Vancouver).

Among Western Conference awards nominees, Pickard was nominated for Goaltender of the Year, Fast for Defenseman of the Year, Long for Most Sportsmanlike Player, Vancouver's Evander Kane for Rookie of the Year and Tri-City's Don Nachbaur for Coach of the Year. The winners of these awards, along with the WHL Player of the Year, will be announced April 30.

The Eastern Conference all-stars and awards nominees were announced Wednesday.
