Arlington

Police report fewer traffic accidents in 2007

Arlington police investigated 376 vehicle accidents in the city last year. The number of wrecks is nearly 10 percent fewer than was tallied in 2006. However, the accidents still caused more than $1.7 million in property damage.

The accidents occurred primarily at intersections on 172nd Street, Highway 9, Smokey Point Boulevard and Highway 530. To help prevent accidents, police are asking drivers to pay attention, stop tailgating, follow speed limits and yield right-of-way when required.

Water, sewer rates climb

Each April, water and sewer rates in Arlington go up based on the previous year's cost of living increase.

On April 1, the minimum two-month bill for water and sewer increased from $150.29 to $162.19.

The minimum two-month bill sent to low-income seniors increased from $90.17 to $97.31.
