Man charged in attack on woman in her home

EVERETT -- Her husband was upstairs reading a bedtime story to their two young children when a naked stranger confronted her in the shower.

The woman was convinced the man intended to rape or kill her. Her thoughts went to her kids. She remained calm, summoned police and talked her way into making an escape even as the man pulled her into the bedroom and masturbated, according to court documents filed in Snohomish County Superior Court.

Prosecutors on Thursday charged Christopher Charles Eddy, 25, with first-degree burglary with sexual motivation.

Eddy remains in Snohomish County Jail on $1 million bail.

He is accused of climbing, pantless, through a bedroom window about 9 p.m. April 29. He allegedly tried to climb into a shower with a woman, Roe wrote. The woman shoved him out of the shower. She told investigators the man grabbed her wrist and pulled her into the bedroom. The woman was able to grab a phone and call 911. She also was able to convince Eddy she needed to leave the room but he should wait for her because she would return, Roe wrote.

The woman fled her bedroom and alerted her husband, who stayed with their children. She went back downstairs to unlock the door for police.

Everett police swarmed the house and arrested the naked Eddy. He allegedly told police he lived at the house and then told them he thought the woman in the shower was a girl named "Jessica," who wanted to have sex with him, according to court documents.

Eddy is a six-time convicted felon and has a history of mental problems, Roe wrote.

The incident frightened the woman and her family, he said. She also was confronted by "uninvited TV media at her home with cameras and microphones," after returning home from a meeting with investigators, Roe wrote.

"She hopes that in the future they will respect her, her family, her dignity, and her privacy, by not seeking to exploit this frightening event by either calling her, or going uninvited to her home," he concluded.
