EVERETT – Everett police and federal agents this week arrested several people accused of selling large amounts of drugs and guns and breaking other state and federal laws, officials said.
The effort, the first of the Everett Police Department’s newly reinstated Anti-Crime Unit working in conjunction with the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives violent gang task force, swept up career criminals, many of whom are believed to be gang members or have close ties to criminal gangs.
Police have been working for nine months using video surveillance and other investigative techniques to build cases against the people who were arrested.
Among the property seized are a half-pound of heroin, a machine gun sold to an undercover officer on Casino Road, and methamphetamine, police said.
Officials are expected to provide more details this afternoon.
