Arlington

Shakespeare in the park back for good 'Measure'

The city of Arlington and Arlington Friends of the Library are bringing Shakespeare to the park.

Last Leaf Productions of Monroe is scheduled to present "Measure for Measure," a comedy that deals with the issues of mercy, justice, truth, pride and humility.

The free production is set for 6 p.m. June 21 at Terrace Park, 809 Fifth St. Bring blankets for seating in the park's terraces.

Last Leaf Productions also plans to bring "All's Well That Ends Well" to the Arlington park on Aug. 2.

Fraud prevention seminar planned

An effort to help seniors avoid fraud and identity theft and protect their bank accounts is being offered through a seminar given by the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program and AARP.

"Scammers, Schemers and Scalawags" is scheduled to be presented at 1 p.m. July 19 at the Stillaguamish Senior Center, 18308 Smokey Point Blvd., Arlington. The seminar is free, but seating is limited.

Darrington

Feral cat project needs donations, offers help

A feral cat project in Darrington offers assistance and needs help.

Homeowners and business owners with feral cat problems can contact Leslie Boyd by leaving a message at Town Hall. She offers help to trap cats, get them spayed or neutered and then releases them.

Boyd's project also needs volunteer help and donations of blankets, cat carriers, towels and cash.

Marysville

Strawberry Festival begins 77th year today

The 77th annual Marysville Strawberry Festival begins today and runs through June 22.

The week is highlighted by the Twilight Grand Parade at 8 p.m. June 21 along State Avenue, preceded by the Kiddies' Parade at 6 p.m.

A Market in the Park, live music, children's entertainment, adult trike races, a carnival, a golf tournament, a fashion show and more are planned.

Tulalip

Salmon ceremony scheduled for Saturday

The Tulalip Tribes' annual homage to the ceremonial first salmon of the season will take place on Saturday.

The parade will begin at 10 a.m. and will move down Marine Drive toward Totem Beach Road, near the tribe's headquarters.

The Salmon Ceremony will begin at 11:30 a.m. near the tribes' longhouse. The day will also feature craft booths.
