Allegiant Air responds to opponents' e-mail

Posted at 12:18 pm by Jerry Cornfield

The airline carrier looking to offer passenger service between Paine Field and Las Vegas responded today to allegations by opponents that the firm moved out of several small airports after short periods of time

Allegiant Air issued an eight-page response (see attached PDF) to an e-mail distributed Wednesday by Strategies 360, led by Ron Dotzauer. The city of Mukilteo recently hired the firm to lead its fight against commercial jet service at the airport.

Dotzauer’s e-mail accused Allegiant Air of abruptly halting service at 10 airports around the country.

Allegiant acknowledged withdrawing unilaterally from four and offered explanation of the situation at the other sites.

The company’s letter concludes:

Allegiant understands some Snohomish County residents do not support commercial air service, however limited, at Paine Field and although we are obviously on the other side of the issue, we respect such views as sincerely held.

However, we also believe this discussion is most productive when it is careful, respectful and fact-based.

Unfortunately, the email to Snohomish residents, apparently from Mr. Ron Dotzauer of Strategies 360, presumably on behalf of the city of Mukilteo, is neither careful nor respectful and is wrong on a material number of facts.
