Airport supervisor Dale Carman said a temporary trail section around the area has been built to serve trail users. In September, a new permanent trail section will be opened, he said. Officials seek old photos and documents of airport Airport officials are looking for old photographs, drawings or documents having to do with Arlington's airport in the 1930s and '40s. The old photos and documents are planned to be used to create eight historical interpretive signs. The airport hopes to place the signs along the airport trail to tell the history of the Arlington Airport. The airport office is especially interested in finding photos of P-51 aircraft, the old shotgun range, the ballfields, the former control tower and close-up photos of the runway. More info: 360-403-3470 or ­airport@ci.arlington.wa.us. Marysville Night Out event planned for Aug. 5 Marysville's National Night Out Against Crime is Aug. 5. The event is 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in downtown Comeford Park, 514 Delta Ave. The annual event focuses on crime-fighting and crime prevention. A variety of information booths hosted by police, fire and other outside agencies are planned. Police will share information about police operations, Neighborhood Block Watch program, identity-theft prevention and other services. Kids can be registered for identification kits and get their picture taken with McGruff the Crime Dog, meet Sparky the Fire Dog and get their faces painted. A technical rescue team plans to provide a rappelling demonstration at 7:30 p.m. from the Comeford Park water tower. Food and refreshments will be available for purchase from the Marysville Kiwanis Club. More info: 360-363-8350. Stanwood Teens invited to design a neon sign for library There's still time to submit a design for the new neon sign to be hung in the teen section at Stanwood Library. Design submissions will be accepted until Aug. 15. Simple, colorful designs are suggested. Teen section librarian Rob Branigin is heading up the effort, which is sponsored by the Friends of the Stanwood Library. More info: 360-629-3132. Oak Harbor Road striping to delay traffic on Whidbey Highway 525 and Highway 20 on Whidbey Island could be congested Monday through Thursday while state Department of Transportation crews re-stripe the roads. Crews plan to work from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Because the hills and curves on Whidbey Island can reduce sight distance, drivers are being advised to use caution and watch for slow-moving vehicles that might be just around the corner or over the next hill.
