In case you missed it, our 2008 Western Conference football preview is in today’s paper and online. The cover story is about prolific Wesco South running backs Tony Heard (Edmonds-Woodway) and Taylor Cox (Jackson).
To see a long list of Wesco preview stories and capsules, click here. And don’t forget: Our Cascade Conference football preview comes out tomorrow.
Local gridiron teams kick off their seasons Friday. Some of the most intriguing Week One matchups are:
*Cascade at Oak Harbor, 7 p.m. at Wildcat Memorial Stadium *Glacier Peak at Arlington, 7 p.m. at Larson Stadium *Lynden at Archbishop Murphy, 7 p.m. at Terry Ennis Stadium *Kamiak at Snohomish, 7 p.m. at Snohomish Veterans Memorial Stadium *Edmonds-Woodway at Meadowdale, 8 p.m. at Edmonds District Stadium *Lake Stevens at Mariner, 7 p.m. at Goddard Stadium
I’ll be at the Glacier Peak vs. Arlington game, where a first-year program (Glacier Peak) and a pair of new head coaches (Rory Rosenbach and Greg Dailer, respectively) will see how their young squads react to opening-night excitement.
In the meantime, take a look at the MaxPreps preseason state football rankings. Teams are ranked regardless of classification.
