Kapralos Herald Writer ARLINGTON -- The grand opening ceremony for the newly expanded Angel of the Winds Casino in Arlington ended at noon on Sunday, and about 400 people were already lined up, waiting to get inside. The expansion tripled the casino's size, adding 44,000 square feet of space for gaming and other leisure pastimes. The casino, owned by the Stillaguamish Indian Tribe, has long been the smaller, little sister of the Tulalip Casino, which is located just a few exits south on I-5, but Angel of the Winds Casino officials say the expansion may change that perception. "The look on their faces was great," Angel of the Winds director of marketing Eric Larsen said of the people eager to get inside on Sunday. "They were all very impressed with how the expansion looked." The expansion took most of the year. On Monday, the original gaming area will be closed for a quick renovation that involves new paint and carpet. "We'll take that area and spruce it up, and get it to the same level as the area in the expansion," casino general manager Travis O'Neil said. If all goes according to plan, the original wing will reopen by March 1. The result will be a "brand new" casino, O'Neil said. "If you've never visited us before, or have only been here once or twice, this is going to be a nice feeling when you see it," he said. Reporter Krista J.
