I think the community has done itself proud the way it has come forward to help the animal shelter.
After reading the Thursday story about the puppy mill (“Man with 160 dogs didn’t know it was illegal”), I remembered something my Dad used to say: “Ignorance is no excuse.”
If Jason Larsen was hired to look after the dogs and claims to love animals so much, why were they not taken care of properly? Why were they sick, hurt and covered with waste? I’d like to know what he thinks “taking care of” means. In none of the articles have I read why there were dogs in the freezer. Were they eating them, grinding them up for puppy food, or was there some other purpose?
The animal shelter is doing a good job with so many sick animals dropped on them unexpectedly, but, expense wise, the care, medical costs, food, etc., should be billed to the owner. After all, the owner has been bragging that it’s a multi-million-dollar business, and all businesses have expenses.
In addition, a list should be sent out to shelters and police to help keep people like this from ever being in contact with animals again.
Who gave them back their license before? Shame on them!
