Talk about Grandma
Monroe High School freshmen learned about the history of older women in their families and will share it at the Monroe Historical Society’s annual membership meeting at 6:30 p.m. March 19 at Tualco Grange, 18933 Tualco Road in Monroe.
Ninth-graders have been collecting histories of their grandmothers and other female relatives and writing short biographies that will be broadcast by radio station KSER (90.7 FM) in Everett.
The presentation celebrates National Women’s History Month and includes stories of Monroe women — including Amelia Austin, Grace Kirwan and Blanche Shannahan, whose accomplishments are featured on a Web site honoring the lives of women in Snohomish County. Authors of the Web site, the Women’s Legacy Project of Snohomish County, will also speak.
