Woodward talks Apple Cup

Washington athletic director Scott Woodward had politely declined to talk about the proposed Apple Cup move to Qwest Field while discussions were still ongoing, but now that that idea has died Woodward was willing to talk about it a bit at today's spring football practice.
He didn't get into a lot of specifics, saying a number of factors, including ticket allocations, played into the ending of talks.
"\What I want to say first and foremost is that First & Goal was great, the Seahawks were just awesome and came with a very interesting proposal. I’ll always listen to good proposals that help our student athletes and help the University of Washington athletic program. It was a very, very comprehensive and interesting proposal that we looked at and talked about, and that’s as far as it went.
"We had other issues and we had other things that we were concerned about. This is just like any other proposal: if you have a good idea for the University of Washington, I’m all ears and I’ll talk to anyone."
Woodward also indicated he's be willing to listen to future proposals:
"We had great discussions, it was an interesting proposal, and if there’s anything that makes sense that anyone has, I’ll always listen."
Asked if ynything besides ticket allocation played into the decision, he said, "Absolutely. From day one I was not overwhelmed by the fan response. I knew it was going to be a legitimate issue when you’re talking about tradition. So when you’re talking about that, you play that into consideration and it’s something that you don’t take lightly. Financial considerations and creating new traditions are always interesting to me, so that’s why I had great interest in what First & Goal and the Seahawks had to offer."
