Community Transit suggests that folks should ride bikes to work on Friday, National Bike to Work Day.

"Celebration stations," offering riders pit stops with safety blinkers, snacks, free bike safety checks and local bike maps, will be set up at Brackett's Landing Park in Edmonds, Lynnwood Transit Center, the University of Washington's Bothell campus, Everett Station, Boeing Everett, Comeford Park in Marysville and McCollum Park in Mill Creek.

A free class on bike commuting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at Community Transit's Kasch Park offices, 2300 Kasch Park Road, Everett. Register by calling 425-348-2304 or e-mail biketowork@commtrans.org.

Tulalip payment time: Tulalip tribal members can pick up their "per capita" distribution checks between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. today in the Tulalip tribal gym. The tribal government gives each tribal member a portion of the proceeds of tribal enterprises, including the Tulalip Casino.

Tribal members must show identification issued by the tribal government to receive their check.

Get help in Lake Stevens: Those who believe they might qualify for public assistance can make an appointment to see a specialist at the Lake Stevens Family Center.

An official with the state Department of Social and Health Services will take appointments from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays at the center, 1803 123rd Drive NE, behind the library.

For more information, call 425-397-7433 or 425-438-4973.
