Sandy Ward, marketing director of the Future of Flight Aviation Center & Boeing Tour, has been re-appointed by Gov. Chris Gregoire to a second three-year term on the Washington State Tourism Commission.

Fixed income securities will be the topic Tuesday for the June edition of "Getting Your Dough To Rise," the monthly personal finance show on KSER (90.7 FM), Snohomish County's public radio station. The show airs from 6 to 7 p.m. and is hosted by Chuck Noel.



The Everett Area Chamber of Commerce plans its 11th annual Banner Bank Golf Tournament on July 17 at Legion Memorial Golf Course in Everett. The event will include a shotgun start, scramble format and an awards dinner.Go to www.everettchamber.com and click on "events" to register.

Awards

The Everett Area Chamber of Commerce seeks nominations for its 2009 Awards of Excellence, given to people and organizations demonstrating leadership and promoting prosperity. Nomination deadline is Aug. 21. The awards will be presented Dec. 9. Award criteria and nomination forms are available at www.everettchamber.com. Forms may be mailed, faxed or submitted online. Chermak Construction Inc. in Edmonds and Blox Construction Inc. in Everett were honored by the Master Builders Association of King and Snohomish Counties for excellent work in the past year. The two firms were among those honored at an event June 20 at the Lynnwood Convention Center. Chermak was honored for interior design and architecture. Blox was honored for best kitchen remodel costing less than $75,000.



The Everett Clinic Foundation presented the fourth annual William MacDonald Leadership and Personal Development Grant Award to Paul Schoenfeld, director of The Everett Clinic Center for Behavioral Health. He will use the $10,000 for a project aimed at developing a 12-week healthy living boot camp for patients who are at risk of cardiovascular disease. The program will address diet, exercise, stress management, unhealthy behaviors, medical adherence and emotional well-being. The award's namesake, Dr. MacDonald, was a cardiologist committed to helping his patients improve their health through lifestyle changes.



The Brewers Association recently ranked Everett-based Scuttlebutt Brewing Company sixth in the nation out of 928 brewpubs for beer sold in 2008. The company also ranked third in Washington state. Scuttlebutt earned the title after it sold more than 3,900 barrels of its beer in 2008. This equates to 7,800 kegs or 121,000 gallons of beer. Scuttlebutt, located on the Everett waterfront, produces 15 styles of beer. The owners are Phil and Scuttle Bannan.

Training

Edmonds Community College offers a new emergency management certificate that can be completed in a year or less. The training provides critical skills for workers, volunteers, or managers responsible for an organization's emergency preparedness as well as for first responders and safety professionals. Time is running out to get free Microsoft training. Thousands of training certificates are still available, but they must be activated by July 31. The training is distributed through local WorkSource career centers and is available to any Washington resident. Training is available for XP, Vista and Office programs for business users, IT professionals and developers. Business moves

B&J Tile and Stone, Inc., owned by Bob Hackler, has moved to a new location, at 11014 19th Ave. SE, Suite 18A, in the Silver Lake shopping center in south Everett.

Milestones

Next Level Video Games recently celebrated its first anniversary in business. Next Level is located at 1913 Hewitt Ave, across the street from Comcast Arena.
