The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office helicopter was used to help rescue two men who injured themselves Friday in separate hiking outings.
The first rescue happened about 5 p.m. Two men in their 20s were climbing Mount Index when one of them fell and gashed his shin. The helicopter helped both men off the mountain. The injured man was driven to Valley General Hospital and treated for minor injuries.
The second search and rescue happened just before dusk. A 24-year-old Everett man was hiking in the Copper Creek area near Darrington when he fell and broke his leg. He, too, was brought out by helicopter. He was driven to an Everett hospital.
