Twittering in a crisis

SnoPIN, the Snohomish County Public Information Network, hosts a brown bag meeting Tuesday.

It begins at 11:30 a.m. at the Everett Department of Emergency Management, 3509 109th St. SW in Everett.

Discuss how government and businesses can use social media not only to save lives but to post updates and daily news.

SnoPIN is a group for public-relations workers dedicated to provide communication assistance to organizations and agencies during times of crisis.

The July meeting features information about Twitter, Google, Facebook, Flickr, etc.

For more information, contact Connie Lewis at njl.cbl@verizon.net.

Watch out for bogus charity calls: At least one person reported getting a call asking for donations to the Sky Valley Food Bank in Monroe. The food bank does not solicit donations by phone. To donate, write to Sky Valley Food Bank at P.O. Box 724, Monroe, WA 98272 or call 360-794-7959.

Greenbank festival needs volunteers: The planning committee for the annual Loganberry Festival at the Greenbank Farm on Whidbey Island is looking for volunteers to help put the event together.

The 20th annual event is set for July 25 and 26.

Volunteer training is set for Saturday. More than 50 volunteers are needed.

For more information, call 360-678-7700 or send an e-mail to wine@greenbankfarm.com.
