    Reader poll: Which fall sport are you most excited about?

    Sure, this is only the first week of August. But the 2009 fall high school sports season will be here in a flash.

    Football teams begin practicing on Aug. 19 and all other non-football fall sports squads start on Aug. 24.

    As always is the case this time of year, I’m wondering what the big stories will be this fall. Which football teams will emerge and make a deep playoff run? Will any girls soccer squads earn national rankings and contend for a state title? How about our area’s elite swimmers, divers, spikers (volleyball) and distance runners (cross country)?

    That brings me to the latest Double Team reader poll question:
