GOLD BAR — A pedestrian was struck by a pick-up truck on U.S. 2 at about 4:40 a.m. today and is hospitalized in critical condition, according to the Washington State Patrol.
A 49-year-old woman wandered onto the highway when a 19-year-old male from Sedro-Woolley driving a Ford F-350 struck her.
The woman, whose last known address was Ferndale, was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
The driver was heading eastbound on the highway. He attempted to swerve and also braked, according to the State Patrol. He was not intoxicated and no charges have been filed, an official said.
Intoxication has not been ruled out regarding the pedestrian, an official said.
