The USS Ford served as law enforcement for the region. Its personnel helped fight drug operations and general maritime security. For two weeks, the guided-missile frigate worked with a dozen other ships from Chile, Brazil, France and the United Kingdom on practicing combined naval operations, including anti-submarine warfare and gunnery exercises.
