Day of the living dead

Zombies thrill crowd at Town Center

Applause Studio dancers performed to Michael Jackson's “Thriller” during Thrill Mill Creek Oct. 24 at Mill Creek Town Center.

As part of Thrill the World, the 39 dancers were among an estimated 23,000 people in 32 countries to simultaneously dance to the zombie pop hit.

Dancers came from across the community and had to be at least 10 years old to participate. They also had to attend at least two rehearsals to learn the choreography.

Thrill the World is a three-year-old tribute to pop legend Michael Jackson. The 2008 effort logged 4,179 zombies, setting a Guinness world record for the most people dancing simultaneously.

Organizers expected this year's event to blow that record out of the cemetery, with the entertainer's death this year fueling a sharp rise in interest. Official numbers for this year's dance, however, were not available at press time.
