Pre-Race Notes and Quotes

MALSAM AT TEXAS: Tayler Malsam will be making his 25th start in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) when the green flag drops for the WinStar World Casino 350k at Texas Motor Speedway Friday evening. This will be Malsam’s second NCWTS start at the 1.5-mile track. The Seattle-area native finished in the ninth spot at the track earlier this season after qualifying 24th.

WHICH TOYOTA FOR TEXAS: Crew Chief Doug Wolcott and the No. 81 team are utilizing chassis RMM-104 for this weekend’s event. This is the same car the team utilized at Kentucky Speedway and most recently Las Vegas Motor Speedway where Malsam finished in the 10th position.

MALSAM’S THOUGHTS ON TEXAS: “It’s been a rough couple of weeks, for sure. We were hoping to be one of the lucky ones to survive last weekend in Talladega and be able to kind of turn things around for this Randy Moss Motorsports team, but that obviously didn’t happen. As far as Texas goes, we didn’t necessarily qualify as well as we would have liked in the spring, but we ran pretty well, so we’re hoping to be able to go to Texas, get in a good qualifying run and then get ourselves at least a top-10 finish. We know we’ve got a good One Eighty Racing Toyota Tundra for the race, so I think it will be a good race for us, and I think we can definitely finish this season out strong.”

THE SEASON’S STATS: The No. 81 team has posted one top-five and 10 top-10 finishes in 22 events this season. Malsam posted his best career finish at Gateway International Raceway in Madison, Ill., when he took the checkered flag in the fifth spot. He currently holds down 13th position in the driver points battle, sitting 107 markers outside the top 10.

WHAT HAPPENED LAST WEEK: Malsam was the fastest rookie qualifier last weekend at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway and started Saturday’s event from the eighth position. Malsam was running in the 15th spot when he was involved in a multi-truck accident that cut the day short for the team.

WATCH AND LISTEN: Race coverage will be televised on SPEED and heard live on select affiliates of MRN Radio and Sirius-XM NASCAR Radio Channel 128, beginning at 6 p.m. (Pacific).
