Man struck by car dies

EVERETT — An Everett man died after he was struck by a car while crossing Airport Road on a wet and windy Thursday evening, Washington State Patrol trooper Keith Leary said.

The man walked in front of a Cadillac at 5:45 p.m., Leary said.

The Cadillac’s driver, 25 of Lynnwood, had a green light and was not at fault, Leary said.

The pedestrian, 49, had a do-not-walk signal. He was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where he died, Leary said.

The accident tied up traffic at the intersection of Evergreen Way and Airport Road for about two hours in the early evening.

Tis area is dangerous for pedestrians!
The area of Airport Road and Highway 99 is very dangerous for pedestrians.

There have now been at least three pedestrians killed near this intersection in the last three years.

One of them was a friend of mine, Marla Estes.

I beg Everett and state transportation engineers to look at this area to find ways to make it safer for pedestrians.

How many more lives will be lost before something is done?
