A smorgasbord of delights

Posted at 11:15 am by Katie Mayer, Herald staff

First: Since it's only lunchtime Friday and you're already overwhelmed by the pile of Thanksgiving leftovers in the fridge, check out today's Forum for a turkey mac-and-cheese recipe, and Serious Eats' list of suggestions. The list of sandwich ideas alone ought to help solve your quandary.

Second: While you're eating that sandwich, flip through the Big Picture's selection of amazing entries from the National Geographic International Photography Contest. You can also vote for Viewer's Choice winners at the contest's Web site through Dec. 4.

Third: Once you're done gawking and voting, head over to 1000 Awesome Things, a blog devoted to celebrating life's small pleasures, such as #631, Coming Back to Your Own Bed After A Long Trip, and #637, Rocking Out on Air Instruments.

Fourth: Today's gift idea. In October, we had a story about the biotechnology class at Glacier Peak High School. One of the students in the class was wearing a delightfully geeky T-shirt that had a diagram of a right angle on it, and below that, the words "I'm always right." If there's a geek in your life who'd love to flaunt their rightness with such a T-shirt, the Gifts for a Geek online store has it in a variety of colors and styles for both men and women.
