Festival of Trees

Providence General Foundation’s 24th annual Festival of Trees community open house is Wednesday in Everett.

See the trees from noon to 8 p.m. at Comcast Arena, 2000 Hewitt Ave.

More than 18 trees and dozens of wreaths and other Christmas decorations will be on display. Some of the specialty-themed trees include: a Child’s Fantasy, a Nutcracker tree and Gifts of Santa’s Kitchen.

Find seasonal entertainment, school choirs and musical ensembles, children’s activities, and holiday refreshments.

The event benefits Providence Children’s Center, a neuromuscular diagnostic and treatment center.

What is the American Dream?: Students enrolled in the fifth through eighth grade can enter “The American Dream: What Is It?” essay contest sponsored by the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks of the United States.

Essays should not exceed 250 words and must be typed or printed legibly in ink. Participants must include their name, grade, school and nearest sponsoring Elks Club on the essay.

All student essays need to be submitted for judging to the nearest Elks Lodge by Jan. 10.
