Two-truck accident blocks northbound I-5 near Marysville

MARYSVILLE -- A collision involving two tractor-trailer trucks blocked all northbound lanes of I-5 past Marysville late Thursday night.

One of the truck drivers was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, said Trooper Keith Leary of the Washington State Patrol. He did not know the extent of the driver’s injuries.

The accident occurred about 10 p.m. north of 88th Street.

One truck was slowing down for slower traffic ahead when the second truck struck the rear of the slowing truck, Leary said.

Troopers were working to get one lane opened around 11 p.m. Traffic was getting by on the right shoulder and troopers hoped to get a lane open by midnight.

Traffic was being diverted off of I-5 at 88th Street in Marysville.
