Snohomish County this week awarded more than $1.5 million to 22 projects designed to ease homelessness.
The county collects the money from local document recording fees, in accordance with state law. The yearly distribution goes to support the county’s 10-year affordable housing plan, Everyone at Home Now. This year’s recipients include the Interfaith Family Shelter, Snohomish County Legal Services and Bridgeways supportive housing program.
Snohomish County Human Services Director Ken Stark also traveled to Washington, D.C., recently as part of a separate effort to end homelessness in partnership with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation of Seattle. Stark was among a group of a dozen people from the Puget Sound area who met with congressional staff and officials from federal housing agencies.
