LYNNWOOD — Police are looking for a hit-and-run driver who struck a woman in a crosswalk near the Meadowdale Neighborhood Park about noon Friday.
The 22-year-old woman was crossing 56th Avenue W. in the 16800 block when a man in a blue sport utility vehicle, possibly a Jeep Cherokee, ran into her, Lynnwood police said. The woman suffered a broken right ankle and other leg injuries. She was able to get into her car, which was parked nearby and drive to meet with a relative who took her to Stevens Hospital.
A witness told police the man got out and looked at the woman after the collision without calling for help or trying to aid her. Police described the driver as a white man, 23 to 35, who is about 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall with short, cropped or buzz-cut hair. He wore a red shirt.
The suspect left the scene driving south on 56th Avenue W., turned east on 169th Place SW and then turned north on 52nd Avenue W. The vehicle’s license plate was unknown.
Anyone with information about the accident or a possible suspect is asked to call Lynnwood Police Department’s traffic section at 425-670-5600 and ask for officer Savell.
