Stimulus funds for job seekers

Workforce Development Council Snohomish County recently awarded six contracts worth a total of $450,000 to provide training to dislocated workers using American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds.

Edmonds Community College, Everett Community College, Cascadia Community College in Bothell and a private training provider, Next Level Engineering Services (which has an office in Mill Creek), each received money to retrain a total of 98 dislocated workers in such areas as information technology, nursing and business management.

The latest awards are in addition to Recovery Act grants the council will funnel to 509 other dislocated or low-income job seekers in Snohomish County for individualized training, classroom (occupational) training, apprenticeships, on-the-job training and group trainings.
