Flooding forecast to continue through Tuesday

Flooding continues in Snohomish County, including the Snohomish, Skykomish and Stillaguamish rivers. Below are the flood forecasts from the National Weather Service before first light Monday. Sorry for the all caps. That’s how they issue these things:

Flood warnings

THE SNOHOMISH RIVER AT SNOHOMISH

* UNTIL TUESDAY AFTERNOON.

* AT 4:30 AM MONDAY THE STAGE WAS 27.3 FEET.

* FLOOD STAGE IS 25.0 FEET.

* MODERATE FLOODING IS OCCURRING AND MAJOR FLOODING IS FORECAST.

* FORECAST…THE RIVER WILL CONTINUE TO RISE AND CREST NEAR 29.3

FEET AROUND 2 PM MONDAY. THE RIVER WILL FALL BELOW FLOOD STAGE

TUESDAY MORNING.

* IMPACT…AT 29.0 FEET…THE SNOHOMISH RIVER WILL FLOOD LOW FARM

LANDS AND SEVERAL ROADS…INCLUDING RIVERVIEW RD AND THE

SNOHOMISH-MONROE HIGHWAY. HIDE TIDAL LEVELS COULD WORSEN FLOODING

ON THE LOWER DELTA AND EBEY ISLAND. FLOODING WILL OCCUR ALL ALONG

THE RIVER INCLUDING HEADWATERS…TRIBUTARIES…AND OTHER STREAMS

WITHIN AND NEAR THE SNOHOMISH RIVER BASIN. A STAGE OF 29 FEET ON

THE SNOHOMISH RIVER CORRESPONDS TO A PHASE 3 IN THE SNOHOMISH

COUNTY FLOOD PROGRAM.

SNOHOMISH RIVER NEAR MONROE

* UNTIL TUESDAY MORNING.

* AT 4:30 AM MONDAY THE STAGE WAS 16.4 FEET.

* FLOOD STAGE IS 15.0 FEET.

* MODERATE FLOODING IS OCCURRING AND MAJOR FLOODING IS FORECAST.

* FORECAST…THE RIVER WILL CONTINUE TO RISE AND CREST NEAR 17.1

FEET AROUND 10 AM MONDAY. THE RIVER WILL FALL BELOW FLOOD STAGE

EARLY TUESDAY MORNING.

* IMPACT…AT 17.0 FEET…THE SNOHOMISH RIVER WILL CAUSE MAJOR

FLOODING…INUNDATING FARM LAND…ROADS…AND SOME RESIDENTIAL

AREAS. LEVEES WILL LIKELY SUFFER DAMAGE. FLOODING WILL OCCUR ALL

ALONG THE RIVER INCLUDING HEADWATERS…TRIBUTARIES…AND OTHER

STREAMS WITHIN AND NEAR THE SNOHOMISH RIVER BASIN. A STAGE OF 17

FEET AT THIS LOCATION CORRESPONDS TO PHASE 2 IN THE SNOHOMISH

COUNTY FLOOD WARNING SYSTEM.

SKYKOMISH RIVER NEAR GOLD BAR

* UNTIL THIS AFTERNOON.

* AT 4:30 AM MONDAY THE STAGE WAS 14.9 FEET.

* FLOOD STAGE IS 15.0 FEET.

* FORECAST…THE RIVER FELL BELOW FLOOD STAGE AT AROUND 4 AM MONDAY

AND WILL CONTINUE TO FALL. FLOODING WILL CONTINUE IN SOME AREAS

UNTIL THE FLOOD WAVE HAS COMPLETELY PASSED DOWNSTREAM.

STILLAGUAMISH RIVER AT ARLINGTON

* UNTIL THIS AFTERNOON.

* AT 4:24 AM MONDAY THE STAGE WAS 16.2 FEET.

* FLOOD STAGE IS 14.0 FEET.

* MINOR FLOODING IS OCCURRING.

* FORECAST…THE RIVER CRESTED AT 21.2 FEET AT 4 PM SUNDAY AND WILL

CONTINUE TO FALL TO BELOW FLOOD STAGE THIS MORNING.

* IMPACT…AT 17.0 FEET…THE STILLAGUAMISH RIVER WILL CAUSE

FLOODING MAINLY IN THE SILVANA AREA, ALONG NORMAN ROAD AND IN

FLORENCE. A STAGE OF 17 FEET ON THE STILLAGUAMISH RIVER CORRESPONDS

ROUGHLY TO PHASE 3 IN THE SNOHOMISH COUNTY FLOOD PROGRAM.
