LYNNWOOD — A married couple have been displaced from their home by a fire early Saturday morning.
Lynnwood Fire Department received an automated fire alarm at 4:40 a.m. coming from the residence at 16400 block of 56th Ave W., Fire Lieutenant DeVon Ogurkow said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The fire started in the garage and spread to the attic of the two-story house, Ogurkow said.
The couple was awake at the time the fire started. The man tried to fight the fire with an extinguisher before calling 911, Ogurkow said.
The Lynnwood Fire Department was assisted by Snohomish County Fire District 1. The fire was under control in less than 30 minutes.
The fire damage is estimated at $120,000, Ogurkow said.
The couple was assisted by the Red Cross.
