MILL CREEK — Stanwood had one champion and four runners-up and finished second at the 33-team Lady Wolfpack Invitational girls wrestling tournament Saturday at Jackson High School.

Behind a 135-pound championship by senior Whitney Weinert, the Spartans scored 139 points, 33 behind champion Mount Baker, which had two champions and two runners-up.

Everett junior Justine Palabrica was the only other Snohomish County wrestler to win a title, easily winning the 103-pound championship. The Seagulls finished 11th in the team standings.

Mariner finished 22nd, Mountlake Terrace was 26th, Sultan was 27th, Kamiak finished 31st and Lynnwood finished 33rd.

After getting a bye in her first match, Weinert beat Wahluke's Elinn Ocampo and Rainier's Katy Dawson to reach the final, where she met teammate Kalina Eveland, who reached the final behind three pins, including two in under a minute. But Weinert captured the title by pinning Eveland with four seconds left in the first round.

Palabrica, who is 17-10 wrestling boys this season, pinned Yelm's Courtney Grey in 34 seconds, Mount Baker's Laura Torrero in 1:11 and beat Sultan's Britnay Tabor 11-3 to set up a championship match against Stanwood junior Casey Mather, who had three pins of her own en route to the championship. Palabrica was able to win the title by pinning Mather in 3:06.

“She really dominated, which was pretty cool to see,” Everett coach Brien Elliott said. “She was able to work on a lot of things while also winning, so she had a really good day.”

Stanwood junior Laura Charboneau had three pins to reach the final at heavyweight, where she lost 14-5 to Highline's Jamila Culcleasure. The only other Snohomish County wrestler to reach a final was Stanwood's Shannon Gee, who used a bye, a forfeit and an injury default to reach the championship, where she lost to Lincoln's Imari Jones, who pinned Gee in 33 seconds.
