MONROE — Preparations are under way for a memorial service for Jayme Biendl, the corrections officer killed Saturday at the Monroe Correctional Complex.
Everett police Sgt. Robert Goetz said Tuesday that the memori
al planning team includes representatives from throughout law enforcement, the state Department of Corrections, the Behind the Badge Foundation and the city of Monroe.
Planning is in the beginning stages, with a date and site selection pending, Goetz said. He expects to have more information Wednesday.
The team has set up a donations account to help pay for Biendl’s memorial service, Goetz said. Any money leftover will be given to family.
Donations can be made In Memory of Jayme Biendl at any Union Bank location, formerly known as Frontier Bank.
Also Tuesday, Teamsters Local 117 announced it has established a Jayme Biendl Benevolent Fund.
Proceeds will offset funeral expenses and go to Biendl’s family, union officials said.
Donations may be made at any Bank of America branch location.
They also can be sent to the Jayme Biendl Benevolent Fund, 14675 Interurban Ave. S. Suite 307, Tukwila, WA 98168.
