The Boeing Co. released a statement about the devastation in Japan.
“The thoughts of Boeing employees around the world are with the people of Japan as they endure a difficult, tragic time,” said Jim McNerney, Boeing’s CEO.
Boeing has more than 200 employees in Japan. The company said the majority of its workers have been accounted for with no reports of serious injuries.
The company has several major suppliers in Japan. But Boeing has seen only one interruption — the suspension of operations at a facility in Hawaii.
“We have strong, long-standing relationships with colleagues, customers and business partners there, and we stand ready to support our friends,” McNerney said.
Boeing is talking with international agencies about support for earthquake relief efforts.
