Regarding the Sunday article, “Everett parks plan to put up cameras to watch for crime“:
“Deter vandalism, theft” and “effective crime deterrent” are the reasons the parks department gave for the cameras. Sounds reasonable, right? Just give up your right to privacy, and the parks will be safe?
Think again. Look at England. They installed more spy cameras per block, and in total, than any other country in the world, yet their crime rate continues to climb! Studies in England prove cameras are not crime deterrents.
