The 2010 season was memorable for every member of the Washington Stealth lacrosse team, but for no one more than forward Lewis Ratcliff.
Ratcliff, acquired before the season in a multiplayer trade with Toronto, immediately made his impact felt with the Stealth, which was playing its inaugural National Lacrosse League season in Everett.
In 16 regular-season games, Ratcliff led the league in goals with 46. He was also second in points (goals and assists) with 97 and ninth in assists with 51.
During the season Ratcliff, a finalist for The Herald's Man of the Year in Sports for 2010, was once chosen the league's player of the week and was twice named the NLL's offensive player of the week.
His best game came at Calgary on Jan. 23, 2010, when he scored six goals and added three assists. He managed at least six points in 10 of the team's other 15 regular-season games.
Ratcliff, who was born in England and lives today in Victoria, B.C., continued his stellar play in the postseason by scoring five goals and adding 13 assists in three games as the Stealth marched to the NLL championship.
In the Champion's Cup title game, which Washington won 15-11 over Toronto, Ratcliff had five goals and one assist, and was named the game's Most Valuable Player.
At the end of the season, Ratcliff was named to the NLL's All-Pro second team.
