Q: Glacier Peak is still a new school. Do you feel like a trailblazer?
A: I came here as a sophomore. I went to the Snohomish Freshman Campus. All the students were getting used to the new school at the same time. It’s kind of cool to break off from Snohomish High’s traditions.
Q: So you’re starting new traditions?
A: For St. Patrick’s Day, we hid four-leaf clovers. If you found a gold one, you got a box of Lucky Charms. Another tradition, the whole school learns a dance, like a flash mob. The music comes on and the whole school knows it.
Q: What are your plans for after graduation?
A: I’m going to stay home and go to Cascadia Community College. We live in the Gold Creek neighborhood. I hope to transfer to UW-Bothell.
Q: Do you have a career in mind?
A: I’m interested in becoming a nurse. It’s a career choice that every day I would be taking care of people’s needs.
Q: Do you have brothers and sisters?
A: I have a sister, Kjristi, she’s two years older. And I have a brother in seventh grade, Christopher. He plays soccer. I’m really close to my sister. She’s an assistant coach in Division II lacrosse.
Q: Are you a lacrosse player?
A: I’ve been playing for the Snohomish Lacrosse Club since sixth grade. I’m in Division I, high school level. It can get pretty rough, but not as rough as the boys. We wear goggles, no helmet. I play defense. I also ran cross-country in the fall. I had never done a school sport, and didn’t want to have any regrets.
Q: What classes are you taking as a senior?
A: British literature, ASB, government and economics, pre-calculus, peer tutoring and ceramics.
Q: Your principal says you’re a “Super Kid.” Do you have perfect grades?
A: I don’t have a 4.0. I have a 3.9.
Q: Are you involved in activities outside of school?
A: I have lacrosse practice every day during the week. I go to a Bible study on Monday mornings with friends.
Q: Do you attend a local church?
A: I go to the New Life Center in Everett.
Q: How does your family like to spend time together?
A: During the summer we’re really adventurous. My grandparents live in Wenatchee. My mom, my sister and I are training for a 10K run in Wenatchee.
Q: Do you have favorite books and music?
A: Tenth Avenue North, they’re a Christian band. They’re my favorite. I don’t have time to read many books besides the Bible.
Q: Have you ever been in any trouble?
A: I try to stay away from trouble. On junior T.P. night, we toilet-papered houses of junior boys. A cop followed us back to my house. He just talked to us. That was a fun experience.
Q: What is your favorite memory of high school?
A: One thing I will tell my future kids, I was homecoming queen this year. Ten girls and 10 boys were on the royalty court. There was a ballot, everyone voted. We got to ride around the football field at halftime. It will be fun to look back on that.
Q: Anything else?
A: I’m proud of making All-State in Washington lacrosse. All the coaches gather, in the whole division, to decide what girls made it to All-State. And my Snohomish lacrosse team just beat Lakeside. They were state champions for five years. It was pretty exciting.
