SULTAN — No one was injured after a man reportedly fired gunshots in Sultan on Wednesday night.
Deputies received reports of a man walking down Third Street carrying a rifle around 6 p.m., Sultan Police Chief Jeff Brand said.
The deputy heard at least two shots moments later, and a man was seen running southbound across U.S. 2. He was carrying what appeared to be a rifle, Brand said.
More shots were heard in the area, and police found the man, 34, of Sultan. The man told them he had been carrying a pellet gun, not a rifle. He refused to tell them where the weapon was.
The man was later booked into Snohomish County Jail for investigation of discharging a dangerous weapon, Brand said.
The man also is being prosecuted for a felony case in Snohomish County Superior Court, records show.
