EVERETT — A Silver Lake-area house fire on Friday appeared to have started when clothes ignited behind a dryer.
The fire was reported about 1:45 p.m. in the 3500 block of 98th Place SE, east of Everett, said Leslie Hynes, spokeswoman for Snohomish County Fire District 1.
People who were home when the fire broke out saw smoke and escaped, Hynes said. They had home insurance and are staying with relatives.
No injuries were reported in the fire. Damage was estimated at $75,000, mostly from smoke damage and because the fire burned through the floor.
Crews from Snohomish County Fire District 7 in Clearview helped fight the fire, Hynes said.
