Shayne Day, the head golf pro at Legion Memorial Golf Course in Everett, on how to play the course’s par-3, No. 16 hole:
“Downhill par-three. Water on the right, so for right-handed golfers you’re definitely going to want to try to play a little draw in there, play it off the right side. The hole generally flows from the right to the left, in terms of the break. I would take a half club to three-quarters of a club less, depending on the wind. Often on 16 there is a little wind into you from left to right. … If your normal 114(-yard) club is a pitching wedge or a 9-iron, you probably should go down to a sand wedge or a pitching wedge. … And keep it away from the water.”
